Nine dead after shooting in gun free zone at California rail yard

Nine people have perished in a shooting at the Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) light rail yard in San Jose, California. The suspect, one of the nine dead, was an employee of VTA. Officials are also investigating a fire at the suspect’s home.

According to the VTA website, it is unlawful for any person to possess a firearm on a bus, train or transit facility which leaves law-abiding individuals endangered and defenseless by those seeking to cause harm or mayhem. Light rail service ended for the VTA at 12 Noon Pacific.

More details forthcoming.
