Lyft and Uber celebrate as California voters see drivers as independent contractors and not employees

California’s Prop 22 was on the ballot for voters in the state to decide whether app based drivers are employees or independent contractors of companies. With 70% of precincts reporting, 58.4 percent of voters have voted in the favor of independent contractors which is lifting the stocks of Lyft and Uber by over 12 percent in early morning futures.

This gives drivers more freedom to operate as they wish, and we can say the same for Lyft and Uber.
