Presumptive presidential nominee Joe Biden will broadcast canned speeches from his home in Delaware as the Democratic Party’s 2020 convention begins today – virtually. Following the path set by the Constitution Party and the Libertarian Party, the Democratic Party’s four day convention will happen virtually. The Constitution Party nominated their presidential candidate Don Blankship via teleconference in May. Also in May 2020, the Libertarian Party nominated its presidential candidate, Jo Jorgensen via Zoom videoconferencing. The Republican Party will do the same in holding a virtual nominating convention on August 24, 2020.
The three candidates expected to be on the ballot in all 50 states are Joe Biden, Jo Jorgensen, and Donald Trump. These are the three candidates who have a mathematical chance of garnering at least 270 of the required Electoral College votes to occupy the White House in 2021.
As polling shows, most Democrats are voting against Donald Trump rather than for their presumptive presidential candidate Joe Biden. The theme for the Democratic convention seems to be based in fear. Most speeches will work to instill fear in Democrats by talking about COVID-19, Donald Trump, and the current economic situation.
Besides other party business during the day, this evening’s speeches will include notable characters such as Amy Klobuchar, Andrew Cuomo, Gretchen Whitmer, Jim Clyburn, Bernie Sanders, Michelle Obama, amongst others. Tomorrow night, speeches will be given by Chuck Schumer, John Kerry, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Bill Clinton, Jill Biden, amongst others.
