A Hurricane warning is in effect for much of Florida’s East Coast due to Hurricane Isaias, including Palm Beach County, Florida. Residents and visitors should expect weather to deteriorate through Saturday. We can expect hurricane like conditions along portions of Florida’s east coast late Saturday afternoon and into early Sunday morning. We expect Hurricane Isaias to brush past Florida’s east coast, though not make landfall. We do not expect palm Beach County to experience hurricane-force winds outside of a powerful gust from time to time.
We expect hurricane conditions and storm surge along the Bahamas island chain throughout today.
Palm Beach County, Florida and the rest of Florida’s east coast will be on the west side of Hurricane Isaias where winds are not the strongest. Residents and visitors should be prepared for winds anywhere from 40 to 60 m.p.h depending upon where one is on the coast. We expect a storm surge of 2 to 4 feet from Jupiter, Florida up to Ponte Verde Beach, Florida.
We expect hurricane Isaias to produce heavy rains and flash flooding in low-lying and poorly drained areas across Southeast and East Central Florida.
