Hurricane Watch issued for Palm Beach County and much of Florida’s East Coast

As of 11:00 a.m. today, NOAA issued a hurricane watch for portions of the Florida East Coast from north of Deerfield Beach to the Volusia-Brevard County line. We expect Hurricane Isaias to affect sections of Florida’s East Coast with powerful winds and rain this coming weekend beginning Saturday, August 1, 2020.

Hurricane Isaias at 11 a.m. Eastern.

Hurricane Isaias has sustained winds of 75 miles per hour and is traveling in a northwesterly direction at 16 miles per hour. It is now located Southeast of the Bahamas (470 Kilometers from Nassau, Bahamas).

Expected rainfall for Florida’s East Coast is expected to be anywhere from 1″ to 5″ through Wednesday, August 5, 2020. Palm Beach County residents and visitors should expect rain and winds to pick up Saturday morning on August 1, 2020 and then dissipate by mid-day on Sunday, August 2, 2020. As with all hurricane forecasts, a jog of Isaias to the West or to the East could dramatically affect weather predictions noted in this advisory.
