What do people do when the government money runs out and have no job to go back to?

During the COVID-19 pandemic, countless people globally have lost their jobs, their freelancing work, or have in some other way been financially impacted. In America, we expect many of these people to lose the income they have been getting dropped in their bank accounts by their fellow taxpayers via various state and federal financial aid programs. The largest of these for many former workers is the $600 per week federal Cares Act which is expected to end at the close of this month. While this program may end, there is speculation they will replace it with another less-generous plan by the federal government in the coming weeks.

What, if any financial relief is coming is unknown which has numerous Americans looking for another income source. There are many options available to those looking to supplement their income, start a new career, opt-in for a side hustle like driving for Lyft. Lyft is now offering up to $700 guaranteed for new drivers in the South Florida area. You can find out more about my personal experiments/experiences driving for Lyft over on my personal blog here. Though temporarily they are not offering their car rental program in the South Florida area.

Some are looking to reduce their tax bill by starting a small business, which has helped business people for years by taking advantage of the wide number of tax deductions available. Shaklee is a wellness company offering what it calls its Summer Stimulus Plan which is guaranteeing new distributors $1,000 on top of their regular income for meeting certain targets.

There are other options for those unable to find a standard job, like writing. Perhaps it is time to write that book you have always wanted to and self-publish via Amazon. Another option is to create your own blog or WordPress formatted online business. The options available to Americans with an Internet connection have never been more fruitful.
