Yesterday, July 9, 2020, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis held a press conference in Jacksonville to speak about Florida’s economy during the COVID-19 pandemic. DeSantis is taking some heat for his desire to open Florida schools next month rather than force students to be educated online. DeSantis said during the press conference, “If you can do Home Depot, if you can do Walmart, you can definitely do the schools.”
Florida’s economy seems to improve, as are the number of COVID-19 deaths. Jobless claims in the state are declining quickly and there is hope this trend will continue, though some are not so sure because of recent news of businesses closing and filing for bankruptcy.
