Florida’s U.S. House list of official candidates is out

Tallahassee, Fla — Yesterday, May 4, 2018, was the last day for candidates to qualify to runG.W._Bush_delivers_State_of_the_Union_Address-congress for public office on the federal level in Florida. Locally, here in Palm Beach County, District 21 Democratic Party incumbent, Lois Frankel is unopposed as is Tampa area’s District 14 where Democratic Party incumbent Kathy Castor is also unopposed.

In Florida’s District 22, Democratic Party incumbent Ted Deutch will face Jeff Fandl in the August primary. Three Republicans will duke it out in the August primary and the winner will face off with the Democratic Party primary winner in the November general election. The three Republicans are Nicolas KimazJavier “Javi” Manjarres, and Eddison Walters (no website could be found at the time of publication).

In Florida’s District 20, Democratic Party incumbent Alcee Hastings will face Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick (no website could be found at the time of publication) in the August primary. The winner of that primary will face write-in candidate Jay Bonner.

In Florida’s District 19, Democrats David Holden and Todd James Truax will face each other in the August primary. The winner of that primary will face Republican Party incumbent Francis Rooney and write-in candidate Pete Pollard.

In Florida’s District 18, Republican Party incumbent Brian Mast will face Dave Cummings and Mark Freeman in the August primary.  On the Democratic Party side, Lauren Baer and Pam Keith will face each other in the August primary. The winner of the Republican and Democratic primaries will face off in the November general election.

Down in Florida’s District 23, Democratic Party Debbie Wasserman Schultz is unopposed and will meet with the winner of the Republican Party primary along with NPA (no party affiliation) candidates Tim Canova and Don Endriss. Three Republicans have qualified to be on the August primary ballot and they are Joe Kaufman, Carlos Reyes, and Carla Spalding.
