Foxall kicks off Florida House District 72 campaign today in Siesta Key

Alison Foxall’s campaign is having a Kickoff Meet and Greet today, and all constituents and local media are invited to the event. Foxall, who qualified via the petition method in late September for the Florida House Dist. 72 special election on Feb. 13, 2018, will host the event today at The Daiquiri Deck South Siesta Key at 1250 Stickney Pt. Road. The event kicks off at 4:00 p.m. today and complimentary appetizers will be provided.

Randy Wiseman, who has already filed to run for Florida Governor in 2018 on the Libertarian ticket, will be just one of the featured speakers at the event.

Foxall released a statement ahead of the event:
“The response and energy from the community about this campaign is astonishing. We have volunteers pouring in wanting to know how they can help elect me. It’s very humbling. I look forward to meeting new supporters and curious voters next Saturday on the Key that are ready to shake things up in

On Sept. 26, 2017, Foxall qualified for the race via the petition route, as her volunteerfoxall-petitions-soe team had 400 of their 478 submitted petitions deemed valid by the Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections. Candidates needed 305 valid petitions to avoid the qualifying fee.
Foxall’s campaign gathered more validated petitions than Democrat challenger Margaret
Good (393), and Republican James Buchanan’s campaign had only nine more than Foxall’s.

One other Democrat entered the race by paying the fee, setting up a Democrat primary in
December—while Foxall and Buchanan are now locked into the Feb. 13, 2018, ballot.
The Florida House 72 seat came open in August when incumbent Rep. Alexandra Miller (R) abruptly announced her resignation just short of 300 days after being elected. Foxall
announced her intention to run on Aug. 27, 2017, just days later. According to state election records, Foxall is one of only two Libertarians to have qualified for ballot access in a state special election via the petition route, the last being in 1998. During the petition drive — post-Hurricane Irma — 25 volunteers went door-to-door for six days to gather more than 500 signatures.

Florida House District 72 encompasses parts of Sarasota, along with the unincorporated areas of Siesta Key, Sarasota Springs, Gulf Gate Estates and Fruitville are also part of District 72.

Alison Foxall is a small business owner who has resided in District 72 in Sarasota County for nearly 25 years. She runs a company called Gobble Logic, a digital web marking agency. She received a BFA in Mass Communications from International Academy of Design and Technology in Tampa. She is a graduate of Booker High School in Sarasota, and St. Martha’s Catholic School prior to that.
