July 10, 2016 – According to a new Reuters/IPSOS poll the three-way presidential race Libertarian Party presidential nominee is
about equal with independent voters in the nation. Gary Johnson and Democrat Hillary Clinton received 22% while Republican Donald Trump received 20% of the votes when respondents were asked, “If the 2016 presidential election were being held today and the candidates were as below, for whom would you vote?” According to the poll, a majority of Americans still have unfavorable opinions of Trump and Clinton, 59 percent and 55 percent, respectively.
Another interesting takeaway from the poll was that 17 percent of Americans would likely vote for a third party candidate for Congress in 2016. Respondents were asked, “In 2016, if the election for U.S. Congress were held today, would you vote for the Democratic candidate or the Republican candidate for U.S. Congress in your district where
you live?” 17% answered “Candidate from another party,” while a full 24% either refused to answer or did not know.
Johnson is doing well considering the fact that 61% of Americans still do not know who he is. He still has many hurdles to overcome; however, they seem to be coming into view so long as the establishment media treats Johnson fairly. And so far, they are not doing so as they continually exclude his name from news broadcasts while talking about Clinton and Trump. Johnson is garnering more attention than any other Libertarian Party presidential candidate in modern history, so there is progress for him to reach 15% in the polls, which he says is his primary goal at this point.
