The Miami Dolphins announced the team has signed tight end Gerell Robinson off the team’s practice squad. To make room on the roster for Robinson, the team waived tight end Gator Hoskins.
The 6-foot-4, 220-pound, Robinson was signed to Miami’s practice squad on Oct. 28, 2014. He appeared in one career game, which came earlier this season with the Cleveland Browns. He originally entered the NFL with the Denver Broncos as an undrafted college free agent on April 29, 2012. Released by the Broncos following training camp on Aug. 31, 2012, Robinson spent portions of 2012 on the Denver and Arizona Cardinals practice squads prior to re-signing with the Broncos during the 2013 off-season. He spent the 2013 season and the start of the 2014 season on Denver’s practice squad prior to being signed to the Browns active roster on Sept. 9, 2014. He was released by the Browns on Oct. 18, 2014. He re-signed with the Browns three days later, but was released on Oct. 25, 2014.
A wide receiver in college at Arizona State, Robinson recorded 135 receptions for 2,071 yards and 12 touchdowns in 47 games. Born in Gary, Ind., Robinson graduated from Hamilton High School in Chandler, Ariz.
